About Dawn of Modern Man by Nick Plastino
2082 will see the day a child is born in the Virtual Reality Cloud – free from a mother’s womb, inside its very own symbiotic pod that connects the infant to the Cloud, and to its parents. Getting by outside the Hive, in the real world, like Parker Candlefish wants to, isn’t as bad as the United Autonomous Network (UAN) makes it out to be, but jobs aren’t easy to come by. Work in a Hive is available, it only requires that your body is in a pod, the mind can enjoy any part of the immense virtual playground that is the Cloud.
Alceon Fudore, powerful, distinguished and sexy, is the UAN’s most outspoken member. She will stop at nothing to see a child born in the Virtual Reality Cloud. The problem is, several of Earth’s inhabitants think it must be stopped, and are willing to die for the cause.
